Nicolet RFC are the 2011 Wisconsin Division I State Rugby Champions. Nicolet arrived at the Wisconsin Rugby Complex focused and ready to do work. In the state semi game the boys were up against our old friends from the north, Pulaski RFC. Nicolet beat Pulaski to claim their first state title in 2008. In 2009, Nicolet lost to Pulaski in the state championship game. Last year, Pulaski beat Nicolet in the state semi final game. On Saturday, losing to Pulaski came to an end as a hard working Nicolet team controlled the clock and played tough team defense to secure the victory 14-3. On the other side of the bracket Muskego, lost a tough battle to Little Chute. The stage was set Nicolet RFC vs. Little Chute RFC for the Division I State Championship. Leading the team onto the field were over twenty five former Nicolet ruggers. As hot and humid conditions set in, the game was off to a slow start. Eventually, the stiffness from the previous game wore off and the boys began to penetrate Little Chute's defen
se. After 70 min. of TEAM rugby, the whistle blew and Nicolet RFC walked away with the championship. Nicolet 31 Little Chute 7. The team wants to thank all Nicolet staff members, parents, students, and alums for the support throughout the season. It came down to who wanted it more and with your support, we did!
