This past March 62 Nicolet students took the National Spanish Exam offered through the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). As the largest assessment of its kind in the United States, over 83,000 students nationwide participated in 2026.
Altogether, students received 5 Gold medals, 15 Silver medals, 9 Bronze medals, and 21 Honorable Mentions. The Gold medals rank in the top 5% of those taking the exam nationwide. Additionally, Nicolet Freshman Jorge Martinez received a perfect score - one of only 3 in the entire state of Wisconsin. We are certainly very proud of our students' efforts.
This success is not an isolated achievement but rather a reflection of the school’s longstanding tradition of excellence in Spanish language education. Students have consistently excelled on these exams. Achieving gold, silver, or bronze status or an honorable mention on the National Spanish Exam (NSE) is a testament to students’ dedication and hard work.
The Gold medal winners this year that we would like to specifically recognize are:
Level 2: Jorge Martinez, Matthew Tongkumbunjong
Level 4: Issabella Reid, Zachary Berg
Level 5: Matthew Hellman
Way to go👏
