Three Nicolet German students have been named semifinalists for the 2023-24 Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange. Sponsored by the US State Department, this program sends a select group of young Americans to Germany for a year to attend school and act as unofficial ambassadors. Congrats and good luck to juniors Leila Emir and Tyler Friedel as well as senior Lauren Weber. All three have been active in a wide array of activities at Nicolet and were members of the 2022 GAPP Exchange with the Gymnasium Leopoldinum.

Today we recognize the valuable work of school resource officers during National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. SROs are carefully selected, specifically trained, sworn law enforcement officers assigned to work with schools using community-oriented policing concepts. Nicolet's SRO Marissa Myers went into policing with the goal of becoming a school resource officer. She now has her "dream job." and her favorite part is the relationships she has built with students and staff. Thank you Officer Myers, we appreciate all you do to keep our school safe!

Today is the first day of National School Counseling Week. The number one goal, as a school counselor, is to help you succeed. Whatever you need to be successful at school – whether that’s learning how to stay motivated to complete your work, having positive relationships with your fellow students, advocating for yourself or overcoming barriers. You’ve probably heard of actor and producer Tyler Perry. He said, “I don’t think the dreams die. I think people give up. I think it gets too hard.” Sometimes achieving your dreams IS hard, but counselors are here to help you not give up. A big thanks to Nicolet’s counselors and all the things they do, both big and small, to help students succeed.
